REMC 5 Services
Media Circulation
The circulation of various media resources to teachers for classroom use has always been one of the most visible forms of service provided by the REMC to its member schools. A collection of VHS, DVD, room models, and kits is available to member buildings in the four county area. An interschool delivery system provides educators the avenue by which materials reach the classroom.
Discovery Education Streaming
Discovery Educationstreaming is a digital video-based learning resource. REMC provides the DE Streaming license to all member schools for the 2011-2012 school year. Featuring more than 10,000 full-length videos divided into nearly 75,000 content-specific video segments, DEstreaming enables educators to seamlessly integrate digital media in the classroom. Non-REMC districts pay over $2300 per building per year for the DE Streaming licence.
Moodle
REMC supports the Moodle course management system for teachers wishing to create an online or blended element to their classroom. Technical needs, account set up and maintenance, as well as training are provided at no additional cost to REMC member schools.
Instructional Technology Training
The focus of professional development through the REMC is to create an awareness of the interrelationship between educational technology and curriculum. Group sessions and hands-on experiences are offered to those interested in increasing their classroom and personal effectiveness.
Cooperative Purchasing
REMC 5 participates in a statewide program designed to service school districts with cooperative buying power on a statewide bid of supplies and equipment. This arrangement saves schools up to fifty percent on purchases of audiovisual equipment, office supplies, and technology items. Many vendors optimize the savings by dealing directly with the twenty-two REMCs in the state, rather than 550 plus local school districts.
A/V Repair Service
Equipment in need of repair goes to Steve’s TV in Midland. Repair order slips are available in your building and must accompany equipment being sent. Equipment is transported via interschool mail to and from the RESD. Arrangements can be made to have oversized items picked up and dropped of at the school building under certain circumstances. Contact REMC for details.
